Volunteer Advocate Training and Helpline Training

June 3, 2025 @ 5:30 pm - June 26, 2025 @ 8:30 pm

By now, you’ve likely heard that DSVS and other federally funded organizations are facing an uncertain future. We rely on federal grants for 80% of our funding to support survivors, and without them, our ability to provide critical services is at risk.

To prepare for the challenges ahead, we’re offering a Basics Volunteer Advocate Training on June 3, 5, 10 & 12th, and a Helpline Training on June 17,19, 24, & 26th. These trainings are vital for anyone who wants to help DSVS during this time. You’ll gain insight into the connection between abuse, power, and control, develop skills to effectively respond when someone shares their experience of violence, and understand how various agencies and local groups collaborate to support survivors. Our Basics Training is suggested for everyone!

The uncertainty surrounding the future of our funding underscores the importance of community-based support. No number of volunteers can fully replace the expertise and experience of trained professionals, but by training and educating a large group of volunteers to answer helpline calls, assist with outreach, and provide a compassionate presence, we can work together to ensure survivors still have access to support. DSVS remains deeply committed to serving our community, but this is where you come in.

Now is the time to get involved. The more people we train, the safer our community is as a whole. Your willingness to learn and support our mission could make all the difference to the people who need our services.
